Library members can access a large (and growing) range of online resources which are available even when the library is closed. For many of these resources, you will need to enter your membership number (prefixed by CLP). If you are not already a member, please visit any of our libraries or complete the online membership form.

General reference works
There are several groups of reference titles, for example:
- Oxford reference online which contains a huge range of fully-indexed, extensively linked, up to date, and cross-searchable dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press. There is also Oxford art online, Oxford music online and of course the Oxford English dictionary.
- 524 reference books on a wide range of subjects included in Credo reference
- Over 100 reference sources in KnowUK
- Encyclopaedia Britannica online
- the Dictionary of National Biography and Who's who.
Newspapers and magazines
- UK Newsstand covers all UK national and regional newspapers, plus a number of trade journals and magazines.
- Individual titles include the Daily Mirror archive 1903 to the present day, the Illustrated London News historical archive, 1842-2003 and the Times digital archive 1785-1985.
- 17th and 18th Century Burney Collection newspapers and 19th Century British Library newspapers are useful historic collections.
- NEW FROM MARCH 2011 - Just added are the Picture Post historical archive, which contains every issue from 1938 to 1957, and the Financial Times historical archive, 1888-2006.
Resources for business
COBRA is a resource to help people who wish to start a business or need business advice. EBSCO provides access to the contents of a wide range of academic journals, including sources of business information.
Resources for music lovers
Music enthusiasts might like to explore Oxford music online, which includes Grove music online, or browse our own Barbican Library's Barbican song index.
IIMP, the International Index to Music Periodicals, is also available, providing access to over 900,000 articles.
You can also dip into Naxos Music Library or, a recent addition to our resources, Naxos Video Library. Both of these will bring the world's greatest performers and performances into your living room.
